Tribute to Garth Jones
The MPA program wishes to share news of the unfortunate passing of Garth Nelson Jones.
Dr. Jones was a University of Utah alum, a prolific scholar of public administration,
and a long-time friend of our program. Over the years he has supported countless MPA
students in their studies, through stewardship of several fellowships including the
Garth Jones & Dalmas Nelson Excellence in Writing Award, the Reed K. & Irene L. Clegg
Memorial Fellowship, and the Garth Jones & Marie Clegg-Jones & Family Endowed Fellowship.
He was also a frequent guest at MPA events, including our annual Pi Alpha Alpha Banquet.
We will all miss his stories, his wisdom, and his relentless concern for the well-being
and success of our students.
